THE RESISTANCE ON MY MACHINE IS STUCK ON A HIGH RESISTANCE LEVEL, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Check the following:

  • Do the level numbers change on the console when you press the level button?
  • When you adjust the levels can you hear the brake motor moving?

If either of the above are working, a magnet or internal brake cable may be stuck or broken. Contact Octane Fitness or your local dealer for assistance.

MOVING HANDLEBARS ARE LOOSE

The screws under the handlebar cap may be loose. Remove the handlebar covers and tighten the hex head screws on handlebars.

THE RESISTANCE ON MY STANDING ELLIPTICAL FEELS UNEVEN OR LIKE IT IS SLIPPING

This may be a result of the drive belt tension in your unit being too loose.

Follow the instructions in your assembly instructions to remove the top cover. Once the top cover is off, try the following to fix a loose drive belt:

  • Tighten down the belt tensioner bolt on the left hand side of the brake mount.
  • Turn the belt one full rotation.
  • Place the cover back on top of the machine and try the machine. If it still feels loose, continue making these adjustments until the machine slipping disappears.

MY MACHINE IS UNSTEADY (WOBBLES) WHEN I USE IT

It is likely that the levelers on the machine are not properly set for your floor. Try adjusting the position of the machine on your floor. If that does not help, refer to your assembly instructions for adjusting the levelers of your machine.

WHY IS MY STANDING ELLIPTICAL SQUEAKING?

Something may be loose on your machine. Adjust the following one at a time, testing the machine after each one to see if the squeaking goes away. Make the parts snug, but be careful not to over tighten the plastic components.

  • Tighten the screws under both pedals.
  • Tighten the front and back of the rails.
  • Tighten the shrouds.
  • Check the moving handlebar covers to make sure the plastic is not rubbing with the main shroud.
  • Tighten the bolt at the pedal to the 3P link (inside the machine).
  • Tighten the screws under both pedal plastic.

WHAT IS THE FLYWHEEL WEIGHT ON AN OCTANE FITNESS ELLIPTICAL?

Octane Fitness’ flywheels are sized to minimize startup resistance and maintain smooth movement throughout the elliptical motion. It is not relevant to compare flywheels between manufacturers as the linkage drive systems are totally different.

WHAT IS THE SMARTLIGHT?

SmartLight is a feature found on new (2014) Q37 and Q47 ellipticals. Located at the top of the x and xi consoles, it communicates important information for your workout. The primary function of the SmartLight is to act as an intensity meter, giving you visual affirmation as your resistance level or speed increases or decreases. SmartLight also provides feedback during heart rate controlled programs and provides visual prompts when Workout Boosters are activated.
